LEGO has unveiled a nostalgic Transformers Soundwave set that can change into a cassette player without needing to take it apart. The set includes Soundwave’s allies, Ravage and Laserbeak, who can transform into cassette tapes and can be placed into Soundwave’s cassette compartment. Although the set is listed on the LEGO Store’s website, it is currently not available for pre-order. Priced at $189.99, it will be sold exclusively at the LEGO Store starting August 4.
This release marks the third instance of a transformable LEGO Transformers model. The LEGO Optimus Prime was first released in 2022, followed by a LEGO Bumblebee in 2024. However, this is the first occasion a Decepticon character is featured in a full-scale LEGO model, and the first such model to include companion figures that directly interact with the main figure.

LEGO LEGO Transformers: Soundwave
For the first time, LEGO has equipped a Transformer with the capability to speak. By pressing the ‘play’ button on the LEGO sound brick, Soundwave will utter a catchphrase or emit a sound effect.
The model stands 13 inches tall, positioning it between the heights of the Optimus Prime model at 14 inches and the Bumblebee model at 10 inches. The set also includes additional accessories such as a rocket pod, laser blaster, and darts, along with a display placard.
Designed primarily for adult fans, particularly those who grew up in the mid to late 1980s or Millennials who experienced the Transformers movies in theaters, this set brings back memories of Soundwave’s first appearance in the 2009 film, Revenge of the Fallen.
