LEGO has announced the launch of nine new Star Wars themed sets, set to be released on May 1, 2025. These releases are a part of Disney’s strategic celebration of May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day, during which LEGO typically unveils a new Ultimate Collector Series Starship. In prior years, the featured sets were Luke’s X-Wing Starfighter in 2023 and the TIE Interceptor in 2024.
This year, the highlight is Jango Fett’s Firespray Starship, previously recognized by many as Slave I, available on the LEGO Store website. Disney requested the renaming in 2021, likely due to the negative connotations of the term ‘slave’ within the brand’s imagery. This rebranding appears to be permanent.
The previous substantial version of this LEGO model was released in 2019 to mark the 20th anniversary, featuring 1007 pieces and modeled after the ship’s appearance in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The latest model, based on its depiction in Star Wars: Episode 2 Attack of the Clones, consists of 2970 pieces—almost triple the parts of the earlier model. It stands 7.5 inches tall, stretches 17.5 inches long, and spans 15.5 inches wide.
