All Five ‘Breakfast Club’ Actors Reunite for the First Time in 40 Years; ‘I Feel Really Moved We’re All Together,’ Says Molly Ringwald

On a nostalgic Saturday, the iconic quintet from “The Breakfast Club” came together once again, four decades after their initial cinematic detention at Shermer High School.

The reunion of Molly Ringwald, Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Anthony Michael Hall took place at the C2E2, a pop culture convention in Chicago, where they engaged in a lively panel discussion with their fans about the 1985 hit directed by John Hughes. The panel was hosted by entertainment journalist Josh Horowitz.

“Having all of us together like this really touches me,” expressed Ringwald, who portrayed the popular Claire Standish in the movie. She humorously remarked on Estevez’s presence, saying, “It’s great that we don’t need the cardboard cutout of you anymore. It’s truly heartwarming to see us all reunited.”

Estevez responded with a light-hearted comment, “I just had to be here in person,” and added that the reunion felt particularly special because it was in Chicago, the backdrop of “The Breakfast Club.”

As the discussion progressed, Hall and Ringwald shared insights about their casting process for “The Breakfast Club,” especially since they both had roles in another Hughes’ classic, “Sixteen Candles,” released in 1984.

Hall explained, “John simply called and told me to show up. He didn’t even hand me a script at first.”

Ringwald added her casting backstory, “Initially, John wanted to make ‘The Breakfast Club’ before ‘Sixteen Candles.’ But after he submitted ‘Sixteen Candles’ to the studio, they decided they wanted to do that film first.”

Sheedy, who took on the role of the quirky Allison Reynolds, reflected on the close-knit relationship the cast developed during filming.

“The time we spent making this movie was truly magical, and our affection for each other was genuine. It was a dreamlike, joyful experience,” Sheedy reminisced.
