Despite criticism for its rigid CG animation, it provides a worthwhile continuation of the story for those who prefer anime to manga. For a different perspective on The Golden Age arc, the cult-classic 1997 Berserk anime series is also available. Offered in a Blu-ray box set for $36 (originally $60) at Amazon, it varies in certain aspects from the manga but captures the grim fantasy ambiance perfectly. Its hand-drawn animation still impresses nearly three decades later.
