Assassin's Creed Shadows Roadmap Includes Free Updates Driven by Community Feedback and DLC Details

Ubisoft Unveils Year-One Content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has recently shared its comprehensive plan for the first year following the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The company has committed to enhancing the game with new features including a New Game+ mode, additional difficulty levels, more narrative content, and other exciting updates.

2025 Roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In a video update lasting approximately four and a half minutes, Ubisoft laid out its vision for 2025, detailing the upcoming features and enhancements for their latest title. This roadmap video, released today, provides a clear timeline for updates in May and June, indicating Ubisoft’s strategy to maintain player engagement with free content throughout the year.

Starting in early May, players can look forward to “The Works of Luis Frois,” the first in a series of free narrative expansions. This update will also include a Codex refresh and several quality-of-life enhancements, such as significant updates to parkour mechanics and a revamped photo mode. These improvements are part of Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to listen and respond to community feedback to enhance the gaming experience in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized in the update video, “We have consistently prioritized your feedback during the development process, and this focus will continue even after the release of Shadows. You can expect regular updates, each bringing meaningful enhancements and changes, as well as bug fixes to polish the game across all platforms based on your feedback and requests.”

Additional Updates and Features on the Horizon

Following the initial May update, June will bring another free story addition along with tougher difficulty settings, deeper gameplay immersion features, a new open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These upcoming changes are already highly anticipated by the community.

Moreover, the roadmap promises more updates throughout the year, including additional narrative content, support for New Game+, unique collaborations, and other features yet to be announced.

Major Expansion: Claws of Awaji

The highlight of the post-launch content is the substantial DLC expansion titled “Claws of Awaji,” set to be released later this year. This expansion will introduce new elements such as the Bo staff weapon and a fresh region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore during a 10-hour adventure. Although pricing details remain undisclosed, this expansion will be available for free to those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: A New Benchmark in the Franchise

Released on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, Assassin’s Creed Shadows marks the series’ first venture into Feudal Japan. The game not only made it onto our list of the best games of 2025 so far but also became the best-selling game of the previous month, solidifying its success and popularity among gamers.
