Assassin's Creed Mirage Getting Free Saudi Arabia DLC Later This Year

Exciting New Update for Assassin’s Creed Mirage

In an unexpected announcement, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the streamlined adventure set in Baghdad and launched in 2023, will soon expand with new content centered around AlUla, a historic oasis city in modern-day Saudi Arabia.

This upcoming update will include a fresh story chapter featuring new missions and will also bring enhancements to the overall gameplay. This additional content will be available to players at no extra cost later this year.

Ubisoft shared this news on social media early today, surprising fans with the update following a hectic week at Gamescom.

While the news might seem sudden, there had been speculations about more content for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Earlier in the year, Ubisoft chose not to comment on a report by the French financial newspaper Les Echoes, which discussed a potential deal between Ubisoft and the Saudi Public Investment Fund to develop additional content for Mirage.

Today’s confirmation of new content based in 9th century Saudi Arabia aligns with these earlier reports and expectations.

AlUla, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is celebrated for its rich history spanning over 7,000 years and its remarkable rock formations, making it an ideal setting for the Assassin’s Creed series’ signature parkour gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage initially served as a transitional game between the expansive Viking-themed Valhalla and the current large-scale Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Mirage returned to the franchise’s origins with its smaller, more stealth-focused gameplay in an urban setting, reminiscent of the very first Assassin’s Creed game.

Developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, Mirage began as an expansion for Valhalla centered around the enigmatic Assassin character Basim, who plays a crucial role in the conclusion of that game. Fans have been eager for more insights into his character, though it remains to be seen if the new content will provide further clarity on his destiny.

Since the release of Mirage, players have uncovered a mysterious post-credits scene within the game’s files, which Ubisoft has acknowledged but not fully explained. This upcoming content might shed light on that mystery, with more details expected in the following weeks.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft Bordeaux is also preparing for the release of the Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, scheduled to launch on September 16.
