Anthony Mackie is confident that the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday, where he will return as Sam Wilson/Captain America, will recapture the classic Marvel magic that fans cherish.
During a recent discussion about the second season of Peacock’s Twisted Metal, I had the opportunity to speak with Mackie about when he would begin shooting for Doomsday. “Yes, we’re moving forward, and there’s a real buzz as we start to regroup,” Mackie shared.
“We are set to start this week, and the excitement is palpable. With the script we have and the return of the Russo brothers at the helm, it’s bound to be fantastic,” Mackie added. He expressed great enthusiasm for the project, confident it will revive the beloved Marvel experience for audiences.
This return to the “old Marvel feeling” is precisely what enthusiasts of the Avengers franchise are anticipating with Avengers: Doomsday, especially following the mixed reviews of the MCU’s Phase Five and Mackie’s recent film, Captain America: Brave New World, which did not perform well at the box office.

Mackie joins fellow Doomsday cast members who have spoken about the film, including Ant-Man’s Paul Rudd and Human Torch’s Joseph Quinn.
The cast of Avengers: Doomsday is notably star-studded, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, and many others including Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Simu Liu, and more.
Despite the impressive cast, questions arise about which Avengers and X-Men characters are missing from Doomsday (at least for now) and how much screen time each character will actually receive.
