Expanding the Magic: Walt Disney’s New Role at Disney World
Following the success of “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” at Disneyland, a new Audio-Animatronics representation of Walt Disney is set to enhance the experience at Disney World’s Carousel of Progress in the Magic Kingdom.
The exciting announcement came out of Destination D23. It has been confirmed that Walt Disney himself will be featured in a new introductory scene at the Carousel of Progress. This introduction will set the stage for the ensuing four scenes which star John, Sarah, Rover, and the rest of their family. These scenes poignantly capture their life through various decades, showcasing the progression of everyday life in the United States.
A Significant Milestone in Disney’s History
This development is monumental for several reasons. Notably, the Carousel of Progress is among Walt Disney’s premier achievements, akin to the “Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln” at Disneyland. Originally unveiled at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, the show was relocated to Magic Kingdom in 1975. Since its inception, it has been performed more times than any other stage show in the history of American theater.
Kirsten Komoroske, the Executive Director of the Walt Disney Family Museum, expressed profound gratitude towards The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Imagineering for their ongoing partnership. “The introduction of a new Audio-Animatronics figure of Walt Disney in ‘Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress’ marks an exciting milestone in our shared mission to celebrate the story of the man behind the magic and inspire new generations with his innovations and vision for the future,” she said. Komoroske praised the Imagineering team for their meticulous efforts to preserve and honor Walt Disney’s legacy.

Earlier this year, “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” was launched at Disneyland, offering an impressive tribute to Walt Disney’s enduring legacy. The project was celebrated for its authenticity, attention to detail, and the infusion of Disney’s magical essence. The Imagineering team was also lauded for their dedication to reviving Walt’s vision in an Audio-Animatronic form for Disneyland’s 70th anniversary—a project that was met with great enthusiasm and appreciation for its respectfulness and richness in detail.
