A helmet worn by a Stormtrooper in “Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope” was sold for $256,000 at a recent auction at Comic-Con in San Diego.
Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies stated that the helmet was a genuine stunt helmet from the production. It was reportedly used in the Tatooine scenes as a ‘Sandtrooper’ helmet.
The auction details highlighted that this helmet is one of only six stunt helmets that still exist and are currently held in private collections.
Additionally, other iconic items were auctioned, such as Ewan McGregor’s stunt lightsaber as “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and Liam Neeson’s bladed lightsaber as Qui-Gon Jinn in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace,” each fetching $38,400. A lightsaber used by Ray Park as Darth Maul in the same film garnered $76,800.
A prop right hand worn by Anthony Daniels, who played C-3PO in “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” was sold for $16,000. This hand was made from polyurethane.
Another notable sale was a costume made by Industrial Light Magic for a Stormtrooper, which went for $12,800.
