Despite its debut some time ago, Chainsaw Man remains a top anime sensation of the 2020s and is finally getting a Blu-ray release in a Limited Edition format. Fans can mark their calendars for July 29, when two distinct versions will be available. Walmart is offering an exclusive Chainsaw Man Blu-ray encased in a steelbook, while a version that includes a collectible book will be available at multiple retailers, including Amazon.
Walmart initially priced the Chainsaw Man Blu-ray at $56 but has reduced the price to $43. For those who preordered at the higher price, Walmart will automatically adjust the charge to reflect this new lower price, in line with their preorder price guarantee.
For those unfamiliar, Chainsaw Man follows the tale of Denji, a freelance devil hunter who, after a brutal betrayal and murder by the Zombie Devil, merges with his loyal devil dog Pochita. This fusion turns him into a major power player, attracting sinister forces that wish to harness his newfound abilities. Despite his simple-mindedness, Denji’s kind heart helps him make new friends and assimilate into society.
The series quickly became famous for its emotionally resonant storytelling, intriguing mythology, and stunningly animated action scenes. Following its success, the next segment of the Chainsaw Man manga, the Reze Arc, is being adapted into a movie slated for release in Japanese theaters on September 19.
If you’re interested in reading the manga, most of it is available in paperback. A great starting point is the Chainsaw Man box set, which includes Volumes 1-11 from the first act known as the Public Safety arc. This set also features an exclusive double-sided full-color poster and is priced at $56, down from $100.
Following the initial volumes, subsequent releases continue the saga in what is known as the Academy Saga. The latest, Volume 18, was released on May 6, and Volume 19 is available for preorder, set to be published this October.
