Killer Mike Sues Security Company for 2024 Grammys Arrest

Killer Mike Files Lawsuit Against Security Firm After Grammy Incident

Rapper Killer Mike has initiated legal action against S & S Labor Force, the security firm involved in his detention during the 2024 Grammy Awards, according to a report by Rolling Stone. The incident, which saw the rapper handcuffed and escorted out of the event by a security guard from the firm, occurred shortly after he received several awards. Killer Mike attributed the confrontation to the guard’s excessive zeal and a misunderstanding by his team regarding their designated path post-award collection. Although he was booked for misdemeanor battery, no criminal charges were pressed against him.

The lawsuit claims that S & S Labor Force exceeded their security responsibilities, aiming to “degrade, embarrass, and physically harm” Killer Mike. This allegedly resulted in “unnecessary public embarrassment, distress, and professional damage,” as reported by Rolling Stone.

According to the legal documents, the security guard not only falsely detained Killer Mike but also ensured his incarceration for the duration of the Grammy Awards ceremony. This action robbed him of the opportunity to appear on primetime television before a global audience. The complaint further details that the guard “physically assaulted and battered him” by grabbing his arm, employing excessive force that was not necessary for the situation.

The charges laid out in the lawsuit include false arrest and imprisonment, assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and negligence. In response, S & S Labor Force has dismissed the allegations as “unfounded” in a statement to Rolling Stone. At the time of the incident, the female guard who signed the citizen’s arrest warrant accused Killer Mike of aggression, alleging he pushed her during the altercation.

In a night that should have been purely celebratory, Killer Mike walked away with three Grammy awards: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album.
