What a month it has been for music! While April saw some stunning releases from Steve Angello, Drake and more, May has turned out to be yet another power packed month for music fans around the world. With the likes of Dualist Inquiry, Hardwell and Disclosure who put on a spectacular show, we were also treated to some real gems from multiple other Indian artists including Sid Vashi, Lost Stories amongst others.

10. Salty Prawn – Fallen Villain
Mumbai-based beat maker Salty Prawn is kicking off the countdown for the Top 10 Tracks of May 2018 with his brilliant new single, ‘Fallen Villain‘ off his recently released album, ‘Chirps and Burps‘. A nostalgia-filled gem of a tune which sees Salty Prawn take listeners on a melodic, yet groovy journey, its simplistic and serene soundscapes are ought to provide you with all sorts of cozy comfort.
9. Tre Ess – New Religion
Ranchi-based MC/producer Tre Ess returned to action earlier this month to share his latest multilingual rap single, ‘New Religion‘ as part of a mammoth collaboration with some of India’s most talented rap artists. Boasting of contributions from the likes of Cizzy, Tienas, Kav-e, Gravity, Jay Kila, Nihal Shetty and The Accountant, the explosive 6-minute ride explores constantly varying styles of hip-hop which shines through each verse courtesy all the acts. Accompanied by a gnarly instrumental which molds itself according to each MC’s signature flow, Tre Ess’ latest release proves to be a bold statement from India’s extremely talented and fast growing hip-hop community.
8. Armin Van Buuren – Blah Blah Blah
Armin van Buuren has been on an absolute roll lately! And following some humongous live performances across the globe, the Dutch heavyweight officially released one of his most anticipated IDs this month. Titled ‘Blah Blah Blah‘, the track features a child’s vocals on loop with a driving bigroom, psytrance kick, making it a nice addition to a festival set.
7. Lost Stories – Princess St.
One of India’s hottest dance music duo, Lost Stories took over May with the exciting unveil of their impressive ‘Bombay Electric’ EP. And bagging a well deserved spot on our Top 10 is its impressive single, ‘Princess St.‘ which shows off an interesting blend of their striking production work. The record makes sure to take listeners on a stunning trip which takes multiple unexpected turns before finally unleashing a spirited drop.
6. Hardwell & Metropole Orkest – Conquerors
2018 is turning out to be an explosive year for Hardwell! And for his latest release, the Revealed boss teamed up with world renowned Dutch orchestra Metropole Orkest for ‘Conquerors‘. A truly special collaboration that has been steadily destroying dance floors around the globe, Hardwell just can’t seem to miss of late.
5. Disclosure feat. Fatoumata Diawara – Ultimatum
It had been a while since we last heard from famed UK duo Disclosure. And come this May, the world renowned act finally showed up with a brand new single in tow. Titled ‘Ultimatum‘, the stunning tune saw them team up with Malian musician Fatoumata Diawara for a truly impressive comeback. With all eyes on the ‘Latch‘ hitmakers as they ready their highly awaited third studio album, ‘Ultimatum‘ is ought to satiate the hunger of fans for now.
4. Sid Vashi – Birds
May saw Mumbai-based act Sid Vashi return to action after a lengthy hiatus with a brand new single in tow. Offering us with an alternative introduction to the world he explored with ‘Azuma Kazuma‘, his latest release ‘Birds‘ fulfilled its role as an alternative to the album’s original opening track, ‘Paper Bones‘. Accompanied by his hypnotic brilliance and serene vocals which lead listeners right into his multi-dimensional space, the track’s ambient influences are also complemented by an ingenious sample-based work.
3. LSD – Genius
Supergroups are hard to come by these days, but that hasn’t stopped Diplo coming together with Sia and Labrinth to form a collaborative project ‘LSD‘. And throughout May, we were treated to not one, but two brand new originals from the newly formed trio. And with their debut effort, they truly put out something fun and interesting for listeners around the world. Titled ‘Genius‘, the track features quirky production from Diplo with Sia and Labrinth laying down some impressive vocal work.
2. Dualist Inquiry – Fever Dream
Fresh off dropping the mesmerizing ‘Mayday‘, Dualist Inquiry served up his stellar new single, ‘Fever Dream‘ earlier this month! A breathtaking yet equally intense offering which takes listeners on a surreal journey while capturing the vividness of a wild dream, the brooding piece sounds like the perfect vessel to travel into Sahej’s visceral electronic world.
1. Pryda – Elements
Taking the #1 spot for May 2018 is none other than Eric Prydz who unleashed some of his most awaited IDs till date earlier this month. With the return of his Pryda alias, fans were treated to a stellar 4-track ‘Elements’ EP. And taking the top slot is its title track which proved to be an impressive masterclass of the Swedish maestro’s production abilities.
