The Weeknd hit a sensational home run this year when he unveiled a surprise new track with none other than Daft Punk. A massive joint effort with the legendary duo, their debut collaboration “Starboy“ consequently served as the title track of his upcoming album.
While the track has been met with mixed reviews, its popularity has been undeniably high having garnered more than 17 million streams in its first weekend and becoming the most-added new song of all-time on North American radio. And now in a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, the Canadian R&B talent revealed that the studio time shared with Daft Punk resulted in two songs which are set to appear on his upcoming LP.
Moreover, the Canadian act also talked about working with the French visionaries and went on to describe the entire creative process which went down inside the studio.
“Their studio is like a spaceship, there’s a lot of gear,” he says, “but the way they make music, the way they explain it, is very cinematic. It’s like they’re reading a page out of a novel—‘We want to make sure that at the end, it feels like the sun’s coming up, and maybe there’s a car chase.’ They can get technical, but it was interesting how they visualize making music.”
Check out “Starboy” below and stay tuned for more updates as The Weekend’s upcoming LP gears up for a November 25 release!
