After a lot of speculation over what form SoundCloud’s paid services will take, the company has finally announced their debut. Annointed SoundCloud Go and priced at $9.99 per month, this debut marks the entrance of SoundCloud in streaming wars Apple Music and Spotify. Amongst the additional features which can be enjoyed by users who sign up for the service there are ad-free experience, save their playlists and have them available without data charges, and give access to records from independent and major labels.
In 2014, SoundCloud had reported significant losses in the fiscal year due to which it faced a heavy backlash. In an attempt to monetize the website, they have started striking deals with record labels and now have launched this service. SoundCloud counts on combining the access to labels’ catalogs with the original, user-generated content to give it an edge over the rest of the streaming services. The service has launched in US on a 30 day trial membership basis and will be introduced to other countries soon.
