Seems like the Chicago live electronic trio Autograf are on fire with a good amount of releases dropping recently. After teasing the debut EP Future Soup with the title track, the trio finally unveiled 5-track EP by gradually previewing the tracks off of the collection. The members of Autograf convey to the listeners that this EP is to be taken as an art collective and is meant to be consumed as a series or a live set.
Starting off with the title track, “Future Soup” features cool vocals of Patrick Baker. In more of a deep and electronica style, this track will make you wanna move your body but not with the excess amount of energy. The second track, ‘Heartbeat‘ will take you on a journey filled with airy pads and dynamic drum beats, only to take you to a higher place afterwards with lovely plucks and chilling vocal samples. ‘Heartbeat’ will calm you down with all its moving combinations of elements, one by one. An ideal tune to chill to with a beer!
The EP continues with “Slow Burn” which will further take the down road and in return will take you even higher by making you lighter than the air. Low tempo percussion and ambience of the track is just mesmerising. Timely notes of palm-muted guitar and piano melodies are setting an immensely happy mood with the way this track progresses.
Speeding things a little bit then comes the dynamic ‘Horizons‘. While Autograf‘s signature chill percussion set a cool intro, the impressive sound effects slowly bring out a moving bassline along with a bouncy lead, all leading to a perfect dancing mood. The second half gets surprisingly uplifted with pulsating synth lead which provides a great bump in the energy.
Closing this wavey collection with the relaxed “Ocean Glass“, the trio gives an astonishing aural treat to the listeners with a soothing piano intro. The chilled atmosphere gets carried on by controlled horn synths and tingling plucks going left and right. “Ocean Glass” will slowly take you to another world with amazingly placed male vocal samples, calling you to follow him. Before you know it, Autograf builds a perfect atmosphere with chilled sounds of percussion and atmospheric piano. The EP and the track conclude with a lush piano melody leaving a reverb tail behind, making you miss last 24 minutes of your life that you would want to play the EP once again.
