Erstwhile fans of Swedish House Mafia had been awaiting the release of Steve Angello‘s debut solo effort in the form of ‘Wild Youth‘ since forever. They received the first part of the album in the form of ‘Chapter 1‘ which came out in November. While the fans were happy with part 1, they seemed to have gotten more restless for the release of the entire album. The wait ended successfully in January when S-A finally released ‘Chapter 2‘ of Wild Youth, comprising 6 songs.
The release of ‘Chapter 2‘ came with a dark video that was released for ‘The Ocean’, a song featuring Saturday, Monday and Julia Spada. The video tells the story of a boxer who works at a pita-factory. The essence of the video lies in the relationship between the boxer and his daughter. The message coming through the video is that of the struggle that the boxer is willing to undergo in order to give his daughter a life of comfort and happiness. The video, directed by Filip Tellander, was filmed at the Rosengård Boxing Club in Malmö, Sweden, among other snowy, desolate locales. While the song talks about the ocean and compares it to something that is ending, the video reflects that in the boxer’s will which seems to slowly die.
While talking of Wild Youth, Steve Angello said that it is the soundtrack of his life. The visuals go hand in hand with the music and everything he has tried to capture can be seen or heard. Check out the video below!
