Joel Zimmerman Might Kill Off The deadmau5 Brand And Start Something Afresh

Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5 has been trending all the time this year, but usually not because of his music but his signature twitter rants and opinions against fellow musicians and artists. Most recently, he took aim Justin Bieber and justified about his so called “hate against Skrillex” during his Twitch livestream. Yesterday, the mau5 went on a series of mini rants about “killing off his deadmau5 brand” all together and start something new.

The tweet received diverse feedbacks ranging from Laidback Luke suggesting him to experiment with an Aphex Twin style of production that mau5 had told him about in the past to quite a few fans bemoaning the loss of the popular cult brand. Joel replied by saying that money doesn’t buy happiness, and talked about how he isn’t able to have fun as he was having before while being “opinionated” at the same time. By the looks of it he is definitely looking to make a major change. His final tweet was rather scary when he talked about disappearing altogether.

After a few hours, he uploaded a new clip titled “00001” on his Soundcloud page in response to Laidback Luke’s earlier tweet. If these things are to suggest anything, then his new sound might showcase his new direction before his rumored “disappearance”.

You can check out the track below while praying that our favorite mau5 doesn’t leave.
