After giving hits after hits like ‘Universe’, ‘My Window’ and excellent remixes of the tracks like Ghosttown by Madonna and Give Me a Try by The Wombats, the Dutch DJ and producer Don Diablo is back with a new house track, On My Way. Don is well known for his style of house music and he adds one more house-music gem with his name on it. One thing we can say for sure is that he never ceases to impress!
The track, On My Mind starts with warm vocals, sweet piano chords and bassline, later on moving to house style synths. The drop will make your legs itch to dance. In the break, we can clearly hear the twisting synths leading back to the vocals. Don’s style of mixing piano with synths in the house music style is unmatchable. Unlike all the modern dance music elements in the track, the vocals have a different story. You might recognize “When I think about you, my feelings can’t explain” from early 2000 style disco. The vocals are originally from an R&B track from 1984, “Saturday Love“ by Cherelle and Alexander O’Neal. However, the edit of vocals used in On My Mind is not same as the original. This edit was created by Junior Jack in late 1999 in his all-time classic disco track “My Feelings” which was also covered by Yenson and Deniz Koyu after a decade in 2010. So clearly, Don Diablo is bringing us a newer version of My Feelings this summer with his fresh melodic touch.
The track was first premired by Hardwell on Hardwell On Air 222. If we talk about the support on the track, it has been strong with this one. The track has been supported by the likes of Avicii, Hardwell, W&W, Sander van Doorn, Martin Garrix and Oliver Heldens. Don Diablo’s On My Mind will be out on Spinnin’ Records on 27th July.
