The Origins And Influences Of Tycho

The Origins And Influences Of Tycho

Dreamy, ambient yet complex – a few words that best describe Tycho. The tranquility in his music enchants every listener & the euphony of his melody just lingers on.

Tycho is the brainchild of San Francisco based Scott Hansen. His work is a combination of downtempo vintage-style synthesizers and ambient melodies which skillfully incorporate human elements.

Introduced to music in his twenties, Hansen’s experiments with instruments began as a mere hobby. Soon he found a connection between his music and art when he started creating him own music under the alias – Tycho in 2001.

Hansen began releasing music over 10 years ago with The Science of Patterns EP and has delivered several albums since with his latest piece of work being Awake which released in 2014.  Undertones of nostalgia, – a 1970s-inspired imagery, a state of peace clubbed with distant yearning, tied together with a revealing novelty are all quintessentially Tycho.

His influences include the legendary DJ Shadow, Ulrich Shnauss & the Scottish electronic band Boards of Canada. He created a long catalogue of musical recordings over the past decade. His journey is dedicated towards creating music that inspired him.
