Reports from the Wall Street are conveying that the Berlin based SoundCloud is boosting for a huge capital investment in a bid to stay competitive among other streaming services like Spotify and Beats (Now owned by Apple). This would make them part of the 60 odd group of startups to raise over a billion dollars in the last 3 years – talk about success right!
Whether you’d like to call it speculations or baseless rumour; word has it that SoundCloud is asking theirs users to pay for use in the near future though no such announcements have been confirmed from SoundCloud though they will soon be integrating ads within their services.Warner Music have held their ground with SoundCloud amidst all these rumors still keeping their investment in though Universal and Sony are holding out on their deals primarily because of their stakes in SoundCloud comepetitor Spotify.
One won’t mind a few jingles playing first while streaming from SoundCloud given its most clear non clustered treatment over the past few years. The ‘Pay for Use’ or Premium account thing would clearly not be welcomed by their users, but that again is a story for time to tell us.
