Sometimes the true essence of something is hidden in a multitude of layers. The same holds true for CRNKN’s‘ new EP titled ‘The Clearing’ released under Nest on 5th May 2014. The six track concept EP is simply outstanding.
20-year-old Gabe Baer, known as CRNKN who hails from New Hampshire experiments with different facets of dance music with ‘The Clearing EP’ comprising of six genre bending tracks starting off with the first & foremost ‘Far, Hidden & Away’ which is a smooth, viscous number comprising of true beats. Next up is ‘Enter An Exit‘ which is a far darker number with an echoing robotic vocal laced with percussion. ‘Stumbling’ is another one from the EP which is leans towards drum & bass but comprises also of some serious tech beats. ‘To Run’ & ‘Conflict’ come rushing out from the EP in their own unique percussions with agile and grace.
The EP ends with ‘The Clearing’ which is superlative in its composition and emancipated in its outlook with singular introductory beats. A stunning finale to the EP.
