Andrew Chen aka Shogun, previewed his newest production in order to celebrate Chinese New Year.
An ‘erhu’ is a traditional Chinese violin with an extremely melancholic sound. Shogun centers the production around it with a special focus on the break down that features this beautiful sounding ethnic instrument. The melody itself coupled with the sound and tone of the instrument, is so rich in sound, it immediately sparks a rush of emotions through anyone listening. This then builds up to power packed big-room/arena drop that we’re more than familiar with.
Andrew tracked down an erhu player from Taiwan on YouTube and told him his ideas to modernize the instrument into a trance track. The collaboration marks the first time the erhu has been used in modern dance music
“I’ve been wanting to do a track with the erhu for a long time,” says Andrew Chen aka Shogun. “It’s a traditional Asian instrument and I always thought it sounded beautiful.”
This one is expected to be released on February 24th
