Every age has a specific music culture that grips the fancy of a generation, and it seems we are currently living in an age where EDM has a dignified hold over our senses. The music makes us dance, makes us sing and celebrate moments of coming together and uniting absolute strangers to the charms of music. And this years Sundance Film Festival further extended this fact as they screened the official Electric Daisy Carnival movie ‘Under the Electric Sky’ to a standing ovation and loud cheering. Till now, the general public hadn’t even seen a single frame of the social-media-buzz-generating movie, but management has finally uploaded the first snippet of the movie.

Although the clip only shows a minute of the film, including incessant cheering, people going bonkers, a lot of pyrotechnics and a small rendezvous with Armin Van Buuren on his track “Alone” with Lauren Evans, the clip has once again stirred up the fancy of the EDM generation with social media going gaga over the Festival and movie. Pasquale Rotella, CEO of Insomniac Events, which has been producing Electric Daisy Carnival events since 1997 had this to say:

I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve never been to Sundance, and I don’t know if people were just blowing smoke, but they were saying they’d never seen a crowd reaction like we received at the screenings. People were really excited about seeing the movie. It was a good time, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Also, Grammy nominated producer Kaskade, who gave the original score for the movie was overwhelmed with the response at the Sundance Film Festival.

“Man, they really got it! I think there’s so many fans of the festival that they were excited to see what was gonna be on the screen. Even before the movie started, people were screaming, freaking out. When the lights dimmed, it was like a concert. It was amazing to watch a group of people see the movie for the first time — something that I’d worked so hard on — and have them appreciate it.”

As we stand at a point where we see Music and other Performance arts becoming seamlessly merged, times are certainly looking exciting. We’ll be bringing the next clips to you as and when they are released!
