Remix gods The Chainsmokers have upped the ante by venturing into original productions with the release of (Let Me Take A) #Selfie. Under the auspices of Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak label, the New York-based golden boys have hilariously released a track (and a photo montage) circling the world’s obsession with selfies. When you’re not laughing at yourself thinking about how true the lyrics are (there’s no vodka at this table; do you know anyone else here?), the high energy bassline will keep you bouncing, and hopefully not behaving like a trust fund kid taking selfies.
The duo have outdone themselves with a mega-campaign behind the track, from a US-wide tour to badass merchandise and a star-studded original music video that’s already gone viral. Aside from their ridiculously good-looking fans and some of the most photogenic members of the EDM community, the selfie-takers in the video include Snoop Dogg/Lion, Ian Somerhalder (*swoon*) and the reason everybody watched Baywatch in the 90’s, Pamela Anderson David Hasselhoff. Not to mention our chainsmoking homeboys Alex and Drew, being the players that they are. Here’s just another reason to love them.
