English Rock band Bastille are very very particular about their music. With hordes of artists and producers endlessly requesting the revered band headed by singer-songwriter Dan Smith along with Chris Wood, William Farquarson and Kyle Simmons, Bastille have chosen New York based eclectic DJ duo Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall aka The Chainsmokers to pull off a stormy new rework on their mighty single ‘Flaws‘. The official release date is yet to be announced however the remix will be released on Virgin records.
Currently riding the wave of success, thanks to their debut release ‘#SELFIE‘ which is currently at #6 on Beatport Overall, hit #1 on HypeMachine and is #9 on Itunes Dance, the NY duo have produced a stunner with this remix bang in the middle of a music tour! Having been die-hard fans of the British rock band, The Chainsmokers had this to say about the remix:
So Flaws to us was this really interesting quirky track that had this really lovely energy and sadness to it, and felt like it wanted to be dance-able but also didn’t in the original and personally we loved it for that off kilter feeling, but we thought for a remix applying some more straightforward rocking percussion would really give the song this phoenix-esque feel and make it less ballady and more of a song you’d press play on while cruising down the PCH. And of course Dan Smith’s voice is what really is the most special thing in the tune maybe the most special thing on the planet, and we didn’t want to have them get lost in the production so we wanted every sound to really serve a purpose and keep it simple and tight…
The track indeed retains the original grooveline and Dans Smith’s alluring vocals. Infact, Dan has been given an enormous amount of audio time as his mesmerizing voice introduces every sonic element and percussive layer on the track. With a casual buildup around the quarter mark, the incessant groove takes control and makes the track almost festivious in nature! Bastille fans would definitely approve this remix as it keeps the Bastille spirit sancrosanct to the track and yet introduces a lot of freehand creativity. Not your typical Progressive House track, this one’s almost an Indie fusion and you can check out the preview below!
