David Ciekanski or Matt Fax , is a child prodigy. Sometimes, whenever this 16 year old produces something, it turns out way better than most established artists twice his age. Even Tony McGuiness, one third of Trance super-trio, Above & Beyond, praised him saying his productions are way beyond his years.
Which brings to light his latest release on Arrival, a sub-label of Silk Music. The EP, features two quality progressive house tunes, first of which is Orion. The track starts of with a deeb sub bass and arpegiated subtle synths that are just about mellow enough so as to not steal the attention, but audible enough to be noticed. This breaks to an ethereal piano chord progression and the synth comes around again, much louder this time. The beat kicks again giving it a very balearic mellow vibe. Beautifully composed this, making it just right for a nice sunny afternoon soiree.
The second, Hidden Feelings has much more of a deep house feel to it, with a groovy bass line and another beautifully composed electronic piano riff, this redefines the term “uberchill”. This composition is extremely laidback, serene and has a plethora of elements that fit together so perfectly without overpowering each other. All in all this EP is just another laurel for the brilliant Matt Fax to rest on.
