Alluring record label Silk Arrival‘s relationship with Canadian super-producer Jayeson Andel reaches a crescendo, as Andel unveils a brand new artist album that certainly touches new boundaries in Electronic music production. Dropping massive new tunes and remixes on the label in the past year, the artist joined Tom Fall on the Silk Royal Showcase radio show as co-host. But the timely release of his debut artist album on the label comes to show his absolute maturity as a full-fledged Electronic Dance Music powerhouse in his own right.

On the evidence of the stunning 11-piece compilation which is Urban Monks, we find Andel‘s sound intricately carved into each track, with signature synth pads and arrpegiating beats and melodies. Never one to settle for categorisation or easy assumption of style and genre, Andel continuously seeks to embrace new elements in his sound structures and with Urban Monks, he makes giant strides in terms of music production.

Opening with the touching and delicate piano-chord infused ‘We’ll Build It Here‘, one could sense the ingenious aura in the album from the very outset. However the dramatic turn the album makes with its titular track and ‘Follow The Firefly Lanterns‘ are absolutely unpredictable. Andel adds some weight into the album with some brand new Progressive cuts as well through tracks like ‘Achilles‘ and ‘Nocturnal Introvert‘, but the album otherwise offers continuous surprises with its wide assortment of breakbeat and shape-shifting electronica. 2015 has been Andel‘s best year yet, with glorious individual productions and remixes, but its Urban Monks that will stand out in the breadth of his career as a testament to his seemingly limitless talent.
