Au5 & Fractals “Secret Weapon” EP, is among the few quality bass heavy yet serenely melodic tracks to hit the shelves during the latter half of this year. The first track of the EP “Blue”tune pairs a powerful and viciously-oscillated synth lead along with plucky secondary synths to ensure that the melody doesn’t become an afterthought.
The second progressive house tune Dreaming combines subtle beats with amazingly angelic vocals and the sample of bells to render it delicately uplifting. Till it progresses upto around 2:00 where the bass gets heavy and glitch samples are thrown into the mix.
Secret Weapon gets its initial melody from the chopped up vocals and at the build up it has progressive trance build up, adding that extra oomph to the melody, till it drops to a dirty, grimey wobble that packs enough punch to get you to lose yourself.
The last track Smoke starts off as a deep house tune with a serene yet haunting delayed bell sample. At the buildup, the arpeggiated synth climbs up higher in octaves and in volume, which then drops into a powerful, glitch-happy electro-house tune. This entire EP is a perfect showcase of how the various genres of electronic can be married to produce beautiful beautiful children.
