Chuckie disputes the DJ Mag Top 100 in a recent interview

Dutch heavyweight, Chuckie questioned the legitimacy of the controversial DJ Mag Top 100 poll while also bringing up ethical issues in a recent interview. Despite having a more successful and prosperous year than the last, Chuckie managed to move down in the list, which he states is “weird”. Many would have to agree with his point and most dance music fans have also agreed that the poll is more of a popularity contest, hence this sort of mismatch is not surprising at all.

Moving ahead, it was noted that most of the top 10 was comprised of Chuckie’s fellow Dutch peers. However, it was also acknowledged that although a popularity contest can create rivalries, his fellow producer/DJ’s were certainly not stricken with any ill vibes. In fact, it was established that the competition between each of his peers allows for each individual to grow and thrive for the scene as a whole.

In this context Chuckie said, “It’s funny because there are a lot of websites where people analyze through statistics, and if you follow the statistics I’m number 20 or something, you know? And I had a better year than the year before and still I went a couple of places down so that’s weird”.

Adding that, “Of course there’s competition but it’s healthy competition because together we carry this industry, we carry this scene”.

While the following the poll generates annually is sizeable, one can’t help but agree with the Dutch stalwart’s insight as well. Let us know what you think about the polls and Chuckie’s opinions about them now!
