“Tonight is going to be a special, different night Delhi, there’s going to be music which you may have never heard before. We hope you enjoy it!”
Said Nikhil Chinapa as he spun the decks with a wide smile and boy did we enjoy it & how!
The night was a hot, summery one in New Delhi and it was the finale of the extensive “Horn OK Please!” India tour, our very own Nikhil Chinapa and Funkagenda had been on for a few weeks. In addition it was also Nikhil Chinapa’s birthday tour, celebrating his 40th birthday.
On the day of the event I was extremely excited after going through the various mentions about the tour on the different social media platforms and couldn’t wait to hear what the night had to offer.
As I made my way to Café Ludus the excitement in me was rapidly growing higher and higher. I was also keen to know more about the venue, which was relatively new to dance music gigs. On entering the venue and moving around a bit, it seemed like a great venue for dance music events.
After the resident DJ had built proceedings pretty well. Nikhil Chinapa took the stage and went on to throw at us some of the best techno and underground music I’ve heard lately. Quirky as ever, he ensured everyone in the club was on the dance floor and all present were grooving as one track progressed to another. As the crowd moved and danced, little did they know what was going to come next.
Sure enough, a little after, it was time for Ludus to witness one of the most talented and respected DJ’s and producers in the industry. Funkagenda is one of the most hardworking DJ’s out there. He has a marvelous taste in music and going to one of his sets is simply putting your trust in him to guide your party for the night, and it is trust that he fully deserves.
If you don’t follow his Twitter account and simply love hours and hours of DJ banter, you’re missing out; if you don’t follow his Beatport page and simply love hours and hours of real house music, you’re missing out even more. I honestly can’t remember the last Funkagenda release I felt was, “mediocre”.
Coming back to the event, as Funkagenda took stage he was greeted by the fans with a phenomenal uproar of joy. He played a great tough set full of a plethora of different genres of electronic music. Clearly at the top of his game, there was never a beat out of place. His set was filled with tracks that exuded…well…FUNK!
The set was incredibly lively and the crowd was bumping the whole time. Funkagenda himself seemed to having a blast behind the console, dancing as he played his set and having fun with Nikhil Chinapa who joined him on stage. As Funkagenda threw one banger after another, Nikhil Chinapa blew Co2 guns at the crowd and even brought out and blew the infamous horn which is now become popular at the various Horn OK Please tours which the two have been doing over the last few years.
Funkagenda was able to keep the party going until early in the morning and we couldn’t be happier about it. Soon enough the dreaded moment arrived and the night came to an end.
Thank you Funkagenda & Nikhil Chinapa for everything and we hope to see you again soon! We hope you enjoyed the night; we know we did!
