2013 was a massive year for Hardwell. He began it with his worldwide tour I AM HARDWELL in April and was crowned the “No. 1 DJ in the World”. But there’s a whole lot that went behind the Dutch producer claiming that position.
Childhood friend and the brains behind the stunt, Skiandre, made a bet with Hardwell that should he top the DJ Mag 100 list, he and a couple of other friends would all skydive thousands of feet from a plane to commemorate the occasion. Jumping alongside Hardwell, Skiandre are Adithya (aka Kill The Buzz) and Hardwell’s manager Mattijs and another childhood friend Rick.
Directed by Robin Piree, who directed the I AM HARDWELL documentary as well, the short film starts with Hardwell and Skiandre explaining how the whole bet came into place. Having a dislike for extreme sports, Hardwell was reluctant to carry out the stunt, telling Ski, “I fly a lot, but I can’t handle jumping out of an airplane.”
The film gives you a rare sneak peek into the DJ’s life, and features interviews with Kill The Buzz, Mattijs, Skiandre and Rick. The film explores their relationships, their fears about the jump and the penultimate moment, when they jump from the plane along with their instructors.
The skydive is shot beautifully; the divers are equipped with eight GoPro cameras, three camera jumpers and body cams, so that all the thrilling moments from the plunge are captured perfectly for the fans.
If you’re a Hardwell fan, do not miss out on this adrenaline inducing video.
