Skrillex delivers stellar BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix moving across a variety of genres

Yesterday the exorbitantly talented Producer/DJ, Skrillex, had the chance to take over the BBC Radio 1 airwaves for his second essential mix. He announced his new super group with Diplo, which just adds another feather to his packed hat right next to being Skrillex and apart from Dog Blood.

With in minutes of starting his mix, listeners knew that this was going to be an exhilarating experience, something unclassifiable as simply Dubstep or Drum and Bass or Trap, or anything that is known to us. This was going to be a mix straight out of Sonny’s vault, songs old and new that most of us had probably never heard of.

He opened with a brand new Dog Blood track, right into a Power Glove edit by Adam F. Throughout the mix he premiered countless tracks that had fans searching the internet until day break this morning looking for download links and any information they could get on them. Read on for more about the mix, the tracklist & more!

Skrillex played music from many other genres, too many to count, including a throwback remix from the 90′s, Mustard Pimp’s remix of Deftone’s “You’ve Seen The Butcher”. He also dropped new Dog Blood songs like the “Middle Finger 2″, “Wild For The Night (Dog Blood Remix)”, and “Higher State of Consciousness (Dog Blood Edit)”.  The mix then shifted to an amazing Flosstradamus Remix of Sub Focus’s infamous track, “Tidal Wave”.

The award winning DJ/Producer really demonstrated his skills on the decks, something that he has definitely been working on lately. He closed the set with a new song of his called “Untitled DJ Tool” at the moment, with ASAP Rockey’s “LVL” faded into it.

This mix was definitely one of the best essential mixes that has been played in a while unlike any ‘Essential Mix‘ that has come before it; further reaffirming that Skrillex is more than just a bass music producer. He is one of the industry’s foremost pioneers, a rare talent whose true love lies not in the success and fame he has acquired but instead in the music he creates. Judging by fans reactions to his sets lately, you would be wise keep a look out for him, because he is going to be back to hit you hard in the face with new music soon!
