British blokes Maribou State have remixed Fatboy Slim’s original dance hit, Praise You. The original single is taken from Fatboy Slim’s album “You’ve Come A Long Way, Baby” released in 1999.
This ambient wonder starts with a deep sub bass, and slowly, progressively builds up with minimalistic but beautifully calm elements like crystal samples, an ethereal synth backdrop and an organic-yet-jazzy organ riff. All contributing to create a dream like structure, it begs you to question where the song’s going and how it incorporates the original.
The build up grinds to a halt and has the vocals creep in, and there you are, pleasantly surprised with the answer. The track picks up along with vocals and the percussion gets progressively deeper, with an increase in the beat arrangement. All glued together with a simplistic synth progression.
A wonderfully brilliant re-work of the original. Stripping down the original song to the core but still managing to create an aurally rich texture, resplendent with all the elements that would probably go into building a state of almost nirvana-like serenity.
No release date announced yet, forthcoming on Skint Records. Stay tuned to The Bangin’ Beats for more updates.
