It’s been a long time coming and the first release on India’s top techno export Arjun Vagale’s Odd Recordings in collaboration with Ramiro Lopez is finally here. While the label’s podcast series has already received some of the finest mixes from Weska, Andres Campo and Tomy DeClerque to name a few, the record label’s debut release comes from the bosses themselves. Called as “We Are Odd” the EP is no less than a package of enormous dance-floor techno power, although it’s certainly ‘Oddball’ that steals the show.
The track goes full on with an impactful kick and bassline right from the start with strangled vocal cuts and sparkling textures to lead to a build up that’s hypnotic to say the least. Through immense layering and molding of synth elements, the breakdown is reached as it moves to a consistent repetitive pattern of beats. Well not to mention the lead vocal sample “this is not going to take long” is undoubtedly going to stay longer in your memory than expected. ‘Oddball’ lands alongside ‘Even Flow’ on Side-B on January 20th via Odd Recordings.
