TBB: Hey Corey. How has 2017 been treating you so far?

Corey: Hey Guys thanks for having me, 2017 has been amazing so far. Couldn’t have wished for a better year.

TBB: The growth of your career within the electronic music industry has been a joy to witness. What is it that fuels your creativity?

Corey: Good question, I think it’s just the love for the music and the hunger for success that fuels my creativity. If I want something, I put 110% into achieving that.

TBB: One of your recent tunes with Tom Staar, ‘Bird Flu’ has all the making of a groovy house banger. Was there a particular idea or inspiration behind it?

Corey: Well Tom has been supporting my music for a couple of years now and we speak regularly,  he just kept asking for new music so I started sending him ideas, work in progress tracks etc., and that’s how we finally got to collaborating on a track. It’s an honour to work with such a legend.

TBB: Talking about remixing duties, you recently had the opportunity to rework Shapov & MEG \ NERAK’s ‘Breathing Deeper’. How did the whole remix come along, and how has it been like releasing it on such a prestigious label like Axtone?

Corey: It’s another dream come true to release on such a prestigious label, if you told me I would have releases on some of the labels I do today three years ago I would have laughed, it’s crazy how so much can happen when you work hard. The Axtone team got in touch with my manager with the remix opportunity, and I jumped in the studio straight away with some summer inspiration and that’s how the remix was born. I was super happy when I found out Axtone, Shapov and Meg\Nerak all loved the remix.

TBB: Which artists have had influenced you over the years as a musician? Are there any dream collaborations you would love to make happen?

Corey: Steve AngelloAxwell, and Sebastian Ingrosso (Swedish House Mafia) are the guys that really inspire me. From the first time I ever heard their music there was nothing like it. Truly blew my mind and that’s the music I will always love.  Talking about collaborations, I would love to work with Steve Angello. Daft Punk, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Chemical Brothers, Propeller Heads, Eric Prydz and Eric Morillo are also huge inspirations to me, the list goes on and on.

TBB: You recently released ‘With You’ with Santez on SIZE Records. How was it like to fulfil your dream of signing a track to Steve Angello’s label?

Corey: That was my number one goal when I started out, to sign a track on SIZE. It still doesn’t feel like it’s even happened *laughs*. When Steve wanted to sign it, I felt like my life was complete (fanboy moment).

TBB: What has been the most memorable moment in your career so far?

Corey: I think the whole journey is an amazing memory, travelling around the world doing what I love and sharing my music with the fans. The Steve Angello BBC Radio 1 guest mix was a huge moment for me too.

TBB: You’ll be playing at Creamfields this year. What is it that you’re looking forward to the most at the festival?

Corey: I’m excited to be back at Creamfields this year. If you have been to Creamfields you will understand why. It’s amazing. I’m looking forward to playing on a bigger stage than last year, I’m playing the Pepsi Max Stage, so it should be amazing, I’m hoping I get a lot of my friends and followers to come out and see me.

TBB: What are your Top 3 Bangin Tracks at the moment?

Corey: Probably cheating but here goes:

  • Shapov vs M.E.G & N.E.R.A.K – Breathing Deeper (Corey James Remix)
  • Hot Since 82 – Evolve Or Die
  • CamelPhat & Elderbrook – Cola

TBB: What can we expect from you for the rest of 2017?

Corey: More music, more shows and I hope that’s the case for the long future.
