While we have already bid farewell to 2016, the sheer impact it had on the dance music industry surely can’t be ruled out. A colossal twelve months which saw the likes of The Chainsmokers and Martin Garrix conquer new heights, industry heavyweights like Skrillex, Axwell and more effortlessly stamped their authority once again.

As we’ve already started to receive new releases from our favourite dance music acts in 2017, 1001Tracklists have taken it upon themselves to reveal the top artists of 2016. Following up to the unveil of the most played tracks of 2016, their latest rankings sees the OWSLA boss man take the top spot followed by fellow star acts including Axwell, Hardwell, Diplo and more.

“We’re happy to present a new form of rankings – rankings based purely from our data that represent the artists that had the most cumulative unique DJ support on their tracks in 2016. While these rankings should not be taken as a ‘be all and end all’ list for the best producers in the world, they do offer a look at the artists who produced many successful tracks in 2016 in terms of instilling interest in other DJs to want to play these tracks. We hope you enjoy the rankings, and the full Top 100 can be found here!”
