As much as the electronic music scene in India is blooming, it’s satisfying to see Indian producers take things up a notch and deliver quality and uniqueness in their own productions. For Lucknow based DJ/Producer Nakul Mehan aka Lukan, inspirations started flowing during his time in UK’s underground nightlife, after which he decided to carry that dusty warehouse vibe with him and introduce India to a true and unmatched, underground sound. As he was and continues to be moved by the groove of house and techno and the raw energy of acid, this rising talent has a new single called ‘Illusion’ coming up, which just depicts that in its own way.
‘Illusion’ begins with a thumping, groovy bassline, progressing with delectable synths into an absolutely futuristic deep house number, quite different from the offerings available today. With support and heavy feedback from the likes of Riva Starr, Sidney Charles, Georgeous, Scottie Deep, Ibiza Sonica Radio, there’s a lot more to come from the young talent.
Having played alongside heavyweights like Disclosure, Eats Everything, Skream, Shadow Child, Ben Pearce, P Money and many more across cities like London, Loughborough, Leicester and with 5 years of production experiments and two successful releases on Eleonor Records behind him, the future looks bright for Lukan in the home country.
