Comprised chiefly of Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo ((production, guitar, keyboards, DJ), he is often assisted by Tommy Tea (sampling) as the The Bloody Beetroots DJ Set. TBB known for their stunning stage presence , including wielding masks during their performance! Arriving to India for the very first time, we had the chance to sit down with the duo and discuss their musical journey and mark the year ahead with what can be expected. Here is an exclusive interview with The Bloody Beetroots!

TBB: This is the first time you’re playing in India? How excited are you? What can your fans in India expect from your upcoming tour?

The Bloody Beetroots: First time! So excited! We’ve planned a million things to do over there! They can always expect to have a good time. After all, the music we make, is for them!

2013 saw you collaborate with Paul McCartney on ‘Out of Sight’. How did that come together?

The Bloody Beetroots: We have a common friend but mostly we have the same respect and passion for music – Paul is an incredible artist and a very warm and friendly person- working with him helped me grow in so many ways and I’ll always be grateful for the experience.

What’s the whole story behind naming the project ‘The Bloody Beetroots’? Which artists have influenced you, from the point you started listening to music to now producing it?

The Bloody Beetroots: I’m a fan of names architecture – and creating new names is one of my strongest skills – With a good name comes a good history and now, it’s SBCR’s turn. (Talking about which artists have influenced us) The list would be way too long, but if we talk about genres I’d always go back to 70s punk rock and 90s electronic music.

What do you prefer more? A Bloody Beetroots DJ set or a Bloody Beetroots live set? Any rituals you have before taking the stage for a performance? What’s the studio process like?

The Bloody Beetroots: These 2 things have evolved into something completely different so much so that now the ‘dj set ‘ has become an SBCR’s responsibility – The BB will continue to be a ‘live project’ but these two separate entities are have evolved independently. They’re both great and strong and it’s all about having fun. (Talking about the studio process) It usually all starts with a good title – the rest is design and technique!

Given the chance to collaborate with any artist in the world, who would you like to collaborate with?

The Bloody Beetroots: I’d love to work with Prodigy. I’ve always been a big fan.

What’s the whole concept behind choosing Venom as the design for your onstage masks? Any story behind that?

The Bloody Beetroots: It was never really Venom – but it was inspired by the black spider-man – with the years it has acquired its own identity and now with the SBCR project, it will evolve into something new.

How does 2015 look for you, in terms of new productions and collaborations? Anything fans can expect in the coming months?

The Bloody Beetroots: There’s a lot of music! SBCR vol. 2 and 3 will come out by the end of the year and it’s going to be awesome!
