Interview With Gorgon City!

British duo Gorgon City have made quite the name for themselves in the dance music community. The duo, consisting of Kye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott, are known for their groovy sound and impeccable performances, be it a DJ set or a live set. We caught up with Gorgon City prior to their debut India tour with Mad Decent Block Party to discuss their first time in the country, their plans for 2016 and much more. Read on!

TBB: Hi guys, thanks for taking out the time to speak to The Bangin Beats. This is the first time you’re touring India. Excited to be here?

Gorgon City: Yes, we can’t wait. We’ve both always wanted to travel there, so it’s an amazing opportunity. And like all English people, we love Indian food as well!

TBB: You guys already had established solo careers before Gorgon City. How did the project come about?

Gorgon City: It initially started out as a side project, and then turned into a project we decided to concentrate on.

TBB: What is the story behind the name Gorgon City?

Gorgon City: We liked the Greek mythology reference, and thought it sounded interesting.

TBB: What do you prefer more? A Gorgon City DJ set or a Gorgon City live set? Any rituals you have before taking the stage for a performance?

Gorgon City: We love doing both. We couldn’t only do one as originally we are DJs, and its what we love doing.

TBB: How does 2016 look for you? Any new material coming up from you guys?

Gorgon City: Yes, we will be releasing a lot of music this year. We’re actually finishing our album right now.

TBB: How would you describe your sound? And, how do you feel it has evolved over the years?

Gorgon City: It’s house music influenced by all the music we grew up listening to. Sounds like drum & bass, jungle, UK garage, hip hop and grime have all influenced us a lot.

TBB: Which artists have influenced you, from the point you guys started listening to music to now making it?

Gorgon City: There are too many to mention.

TBB: If you had to collaborate with amazing people, who would it be? And why?

Gorgon City: We already get to collaborate with amazing people, so we don’t have a wishlist really.

TBB: This tour being your debut, can the Indian fans expect anything special from your set?

Gorgon City: Lots of new music from our new record.
