In the midst of all the trolling and production at Ultra,  concerning news has surfaced from the first evening of the festival. A  Female security guard named Erica Mack has entered Miami’s Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition after facing a storming group of fans without proper admission or tickets to the festival who decided to sneak past security and fences to enter the show. Several unruly crashers approached Mack’s post near the InterContinental Hotel from 9:30 to 10 PM and despite her attempt to peacefully stop the group, forced the fence down, which then fell on top of the 28-year old guard.

The Miami New Times   reported that sometime between 9:30 and 10:30PM, that the security guard was securing the area near her post.  Lt. Ignatius Carroll described what happened next as follows: “A mob of people came and started rushing the gate and started pushing it. She was doing what she was supposed to do, telling them to stop, when they pushed it down and it fell on top of her… They just trampled her.

They saw an opportunity to try to get in without paying. There must have been a whole lot of people. We found her on the ground, screaming in pain.”

Several of Miami city’s leaders have spoken out against Ultra in light of this incident.According to some,  the horrifying incident could have been prevented: the Miami police force had patrolled the area Erica Mack had been assigned to earlier that evening and instructed the festival to bring in additional fencing, which was never fulfilled. Following the incident, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado stated, “I think we should not have Ultra next year here. This incident should never have happened.”

According to reports, Erica Mack is in critical but stable condition; she had severe brain hemorrhaging, a broken leg, and blood coming out of her ears.
