Artist Of The Month: Ramiro Lopez (August 2015)
Taking the techno game head on with a sound that has plenty of groove and style, Spanish DJ and Producer Ramiro Lopez is a musician with a prodigiously optimistic defiance and a stimulating outlook on the electronic music scene. Having an astounding love for jazz music for which he is much renowned in fact, Ramiro Lopez is all about his own style and growing that style with the right labels along the way.
A name that has been consistently evolving in the worldwide techno spectrum, Lopez’s surge can be accredited to his swift and successful emergence on Coyu’s Suara label and his proclivity for cutting edge productions. His type of techno is exactly the one that you have been missing in your life. On the point of his five city India tour presented by none other than Delhi based Unmute Agency, we dive into Ramiro Lopez’s influential brand of techno as we award him our Artist of The Month for the month of August 2015.
A very young lad when he put his first steps in music, Ramiro spent his initial days listening to radio programs and dedicated compilations. It was in 1996, when he began to share his passion for music around Spain´s clubs. Working as a DJ before being a producer, he familiarized himself slowly into the national circuit, simultaneously gaining incredible skills on the turntable and experiencing the dance floor.
As his musical creativity and innovation has always been latent throughout his life, in around 2006, Ramiro made the leap to music production researching and acquiring knowledge, sharing concerns with other artists and gradually defining his melody. While the techno world took him to notice when his ‘Timba’ EP surfaced on Cécille Records soon followed by ‘Hell Yeah’ EP on Suara, both of which shot him to fame instantly.
Creation became a way of life for Ramiro and in no time he got the massive opportunity for a collab with none other than Suara label head honcho Coyu himself. Their ‘Make ´Em Clap’ EP made airwaves and got played by some of the finest DJs in the global scene until came 2014 and he made ‘Spirit’ that still remains Ramiro’s one of his best works till date.
Ramiro’s music is often claimed to be not only house music or a single style, instead he is known to bring out a whole blend of different styles such as RnB, downbeat, disco, funk, jazz, tech and definitely groove into his immaculate productions.
Last year saw his return to the studio with Coyu for the magnificent ‘1, 2, 3… Fire’ and ‘Y.E.A.H.’ that even received a brilliant rework by Toolroom boss Mark Knight. With the ambitious purpose to provide a good time to his fans, share and enjoy the dancefloor, he offers something that is uber cool, fresh and simply unique.
Not to forget is Ramiro’s consistent interaction with our very own native techno flag-bearer Arjun Vagale as together both have driven on some of the utmost dance floor destroying makings. Their collective effort on last year’s ‘One Shot’ EP released over Dubfire’s legendary Sci-Tec label and the recent rework of ‘5th Element’ by Kaiserdisco still shine bright on the Beatport techno charts.
Still working to get better every day, his dedication has already got him spots on labels such as Cecille, Noir, Terminal M, Diynamic, and active parts in Sincopat and Suara platforms, the wheel doesn’t seem to stop and Ramiro is constantly evolving in many projects as his desire since the beginning has been to make people live and enjoy what they listen to while he is working at the booth.
