The Recent Tragedy
On June 12, 2025, an Air India flight crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in 279 fatalities. Remarkably, only one passenger survived: Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national who was traveling to London to visit family. He was seated in seat 11A.
A Striking Coincidence
In an extraordinary twist, this seat number holds special significance.
Twenty-seven years earlier, in December 1998, Thai celebrity James Ruangsak Loychusak survived another devastating crash while seated in the exact same position – seat 11A – during a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Surat Thani.
The 1998 Incident
The Thai Airways crash occurred after two failed landing attempts in severe weather conditions.
On the third attempt, a technical malfunction caused the aircraft to crash, resulting in 101 deaths and 45 injuries. Loychusak survived but suffered severe injuries, including spinal trauma, cerebral hemorrhage, and broken ribs.
The Significance of Seat 11A
Both survivors attribute their miraculous escapes to the location of seat 11A, which is positioned near emergency exits.
This strategic placement allowed them to evacuate the aircraft more quickly than other passengers. Ramesh specifically noted that the emergency door next to his seat detached upon impact, creating his escape route.
Social Media Response
After learning about the Air India crash, Loychusak shared his experience on Facebook, writing: “Survivor of a plane crash in India.
He was sitting in the same seat as me. 11A.” His post has since gone viral, drawing international media attention to this remarkable coincidence.
