EDC's location changes; Woodstock no longer venue!

Insomniac Events’ plans to host EDC New York and the infamous grounds of the ’94 Woodstock festival have now been cancelled by local government, as supervisor Kelly Myers released a statement, citing insufficient resources as the cause of venue change. During a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Myers mentioned that the 75,000 odd attending event would be far beyond the scope of local infrastructure, also stating that fire and ambulances did not feel they could swiftly and safely provide aid in case of any emergencies.

The owners of Winston Farms, the Schaller family also aren’t too comfy hosting an EDM festival on their property. It seems like the local government as well as the Schaller family saw eye to eye, regarding a bunch of aspects regarding an event of this magnitude.  With North American festivals already coming under the knife, for all the tragedies occurring, such a decision might not be so bad after all. At the end of the day, safety and health of all attendees should be primary priority, period.

Mysteryland announces debut festival in America; to be held at Woodstock’s original location from May 2014!

After exporting Sensation and TomorrowWorld to the United States, ID&T has announced the North American edition of their famed Mysteryland.

The festival will be coming a long way from its Netherlands origin, landing at upstate New York’s most historic site — Bethel Woods, home of the original Woodstock of 1969. Mysteryland will be a three-day affair and is slated to take place during Memorial Day Weekend of 2014.

Attendance will be limited to 20,000 fans each day for a genre-spanning event that is slated production value of $10 million. News comes less than a week after it was reported that Insomniac has set sights on Woodstock ’94 grounds, Winston Farms, for next year’s Electric Daisy Carnival — also expected to land on Memorial Day Weekend.
