EDC New York’s location changes; Woodstock no longer venue!

EDC's location changes; Woodstock no longer venue!

Insomniac Events’ plans to host EDC New York and the infamous grounds of the ’94 Woodstock festival have now been cancelled by local government, as supervisor Kelly Myers released a statement, citing insufficient resources as the cause of venue change. During a town hall meeting on Wednesday, Myers mentioned that the 75,000 odd attending event would be far beyond the scope of local infrastructure, also stating that fire and ambulances did not feel they could swiftly and safely provide aid in case of any emergencies.

The owners of Winston Farms, the Schaller family also aren’t too comfy hosting an EDM festival on their property. It seems like the local government as well as the Schaller family saw eye to eye, regarding a bunch of aspects regarding an event of this magnitude.  With North American festivals already coming under the knife, for all the tragedies occurring, such a decision might not be so bad after all. At the end of the day, safety and health of all attendees should be primary priority, period.

Headhunterz Krewella

Just days after the super successful release of the Legacy video, Headhunterz posted a preview of his collaboration with Krewella.

This new production has the Krew going in a new direction with an all out hardstyle track, after hints of hardstyle could be heard in their other productions. This one first premiered at EDC NY on Headhunterz set (just before the sound team shut him down).

The track has got an uplifting anthemic feel, that reaches out to youth all over the world. Yasmine’s vocals adds to that specific comforting touch makes it all the more easier for the youth to relate to. The hybrid tune features a nice mix of the deep, hard-sounding kick drum and basslines with Yasmine’s vocals laid on to that.

DallasK - Alienz

The hit single “Alienz” by the young LA producer DallasK now receives remix treatment from the up-and-coming Canadian duo Botnek. The remix was first heard in Porter Robinson’s set at EDC NYC recently. ‘Alienz’ is definitely one of the biggest anthem for this summer, withing one month of its release it is charting well on Beatport and has gained mass attention.

Talking about this remix, the original loving melody of Alienz gets some glitchy effect work from the duo in the breakdown while they bring their signature electro twist on the drop.  No info yet on it’s release. But Kindergarten Records are planning to bring out a Remixes EP for ‘Alienz’ soon, with more remixes from other artists to be previewed in the coming days.
