Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for her role in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and Elijah Wood from “The Monkey” are set to appear in Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett’s new film “Ready or Not: Here I Come.” They will be joined by Samara Weaving, returning as Grace, and Kathryn Newton from “Big Little Lies.” Filming kicks off this Monday in Toronto.
The ensemble cast also includes Shawn Hatosy from “The Pitt,” Néstor Carbonell known for “The Dark Knight,” Kevin Durand of “Abigail,” and filmmaker David Cronenberg. The screenplay will again be handled by Guy Busick of “Abigail” and “Scream” fame, and R. Christopher Murphy from “Castle Rock,” with Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer, and William Sherak producing.
The original film, which starred Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Henry Czerny, was produced on a modest budget of $6 million but grossed $28 million in the U.S. alone, marking it as Searchlight’s top release of 2019.
