DreamWorks Animation Announces Star-Studded Cast for “Forgotten Island”
DreamWorks Animation has unveiled an impressive lineup of voice actors for its upcoming animated film “Forgotten Island,” set to hit theaters in 2026. The ensemble includes notable talents such as Lea Salonga, Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, H.E.R., and Liza Soberano, known for her role in “Lisa Frankenstein.”
Unveiling the Plot of “Forgotten Island”
While initial details about the plot were scarce, a recent synopsis poses a poignant question: “What if your lifelong best friend suddenly had no recollection of you? Forgot the love, the laughter, the hardships, and all the shared moments.” The narrative centers on two best friends who end up on the enchanting world of Nakali. As they navigate this mystical “forgotten island,” they face the possibility that escaping might erase their cherished memories forever.
Production Team Behind the Magic
The creative forces behind “Forgotten Island” include Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado, serving as writer and director respectively, with Mark Swift on board as producer. This project marks the third collaborative effort between Crawford and Swift, following their previous work on “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and “The Croods: A New Age.” For Mercado, this film represents his directorial debut, although he has previously worked on the same projects as Crawford and Swift. Complementing the team, Nathan Matthew David, known for his work on “Joy Ride” and “The Brothers Sun,” will compose the film’s score.
Release and Expectations
Universal Pictures is scheduled to release “Forgotten Island” in theaters on September 25, 2026. The announcement follows the success of DreamWorks Animation’s recent films, including last year’s hit “The Wild Robot” and this year’s successful releases “The Bad Guys 2” and a remake of “How to Train Your Dragon.” The studio is also currently developing “Shrek 5” and a live-action sequel to “How to Train Your Dragon,” both expected to premiere in 2027.
