Squanch Games Really Wants Danny DeVito to Play a Gun in High on Life 3

Squanch Games has previously expressed its interest in casting Danny DeVito as the voice of Gene Zaroothian in the game High on Life. Although initial attempts were unsuccessful, the company is not giving up. They hope to lure DeVito into voicing a character in the potential sequel, High on Life 3.

Chief Creative Officer Spano remains optimistic, stating, “I really want Danny DeVito. We attempted to involve him in the first installment but lacked the influential pull needed at the time. I’m hopeful that with the success of our current game, we’ll have another shot at bringing him onboard.”

Spano also shared his creative vision, expressing enthusiasm about a specific character design: “I have the perfect idea for a Danny DeVito-themed gun that I am eager to bring to life!”

Why was DeVito not part of High on Life initially? According to executive producer Matty Studivan, the likelihood of DeVito agreeing was so slim that they hesitated even to propose the idea to him.

Studivan explained, “The feedback we received was along the lines of, ‘We could approach him, but his agent doubts he’d grasp the concept, likely leading to a refusal.’ We’re determined to make a stronger effort for the next project.”

Spano openly invited the actor to join the project, exclaiming, “Danny DeVito, reach out! We’re ready for you!”

Regardless of whether DeVito joins the cast of High on Life 3, Squanch Games is currently focused on High on Life 2. The upcoming sequel, announced at gamescom, is set to release on February 13, 2026. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, including availability on Game Pass from day one.

In the new game, Ralph Ineson, known for his role as Galactus in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ will voice Sheath, a new character and boss. He will be joined by Betsy Sodaro, J.B. Smoove, and Richard Kind in the cast.

High on Life has achieved significant success, becoming one of the most successful launches on Game Pass. This popularity led to the announcement of a television show based on the game in 2024.
