The Return of a Legend: “Predator: Badlands” Teaser Released

The iconic sci-fi series is making a grand comeback with the teaser release of its latest sequel, “Predator: Badlands.” The internet is now buzzing with the first glimpses of this much-anticipated film.

In the newly released teaser, we’re introduced to Elle Fanning’s character, a dweller on a perilous, distant planet in the future. Intriguingly, the Predator character she encounters seems to deviate from its traditional role and might even be portrayed more sympathetically, potentially as a central character. The teaser ominously states, “The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain,” hinting at the intense and thrilling experience awaiting audiences.

This iteration of the Predator not only offers a fresh take on the character but also subtly hints at connections with the Alien saga. For instance, a particular scene where Fanning’s eyes mimic a reboot process similar to Andy’s in “Alien: Romulus,” leads to speculation that her character could be an artificial being. Moreover, a fleeting view of the Weyland Yutani logo on a wrecked vehicle ties back to the infamous corporation central to the Alien stories.

The development of “Predator: Badlands” was first announced in February 2024, with its official release date later set in October of the same year. The trailer was initially showcased at CinemaCon, marking the first opportunity for fans to catch a preview of what the film has to offer.

At CinemaCon, 20th Century Studios also unveiled an official synopsis of the movie, describing an outcast young Predator on a remote future planet who allies with a human named Thia, embarking on a perilous quest to confront a formidable enemy.

Elle Fanning excited the CinemaCon audience by sharing insights into her character’s unique relationship with the Predator. Unlike the typical prey in the series, her character forms a collaborative bond with the Predator, presenting him in a novel perspective. She teased the audience with these details before coyly withholding more.

The film is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on “10 Cloverfield Lane” and the Predator prequel “Prey.” He co-wrote the screenplay with Patrick Aison. “Predator: Badlands” is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, promising to offer a fresh and exciting take on the storied Predator franchise.
