Sales Achievements for Danish Film “Pretty Young Love”
The Copenhagen-based distribution company LevelK has successfully negotiated several international deals for the Danish film “Pretty Young Love,” which is slated to be featured in the upcoming Just Film youth and children’s segment at Tallinn’s Black Nights Film Festival.
Directed by Mogens Hagedorn, known for his work on Netflix’s popular series “Ragnarok” and “Borgen,” the film has been picked up by Splendid Film in Germany, Encripta in Latin America, and Husky Films in South Korea. Additional contracts are currently in the process of being finalized.
Production and Financing Details
SF Studios produced “Pretty Young Love,” with financial support from TV2 Denmark and Netflix. According to experienced producer Marcella Dichmann, known for projects like “Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction” and “Loving Adults,” Netflix secured the rights to broadcast the film ahead of other streaming services and television channels, as she explained to The Bangin Beats.
The Storyline and Cast of “Pretty Young Love”
“Pretty Young Love” is a sequel to the 2022 film “Pretty Young Thing” and continues the story at Rosenholm High School. The film follows young Selma as she enters her second year. During the last night of summer, she encounters Johan, a charismatic yet older individual who reveals himself as her new music teacher.
Karoline Hamm returns to her role as Selma, supported by Tue Lunding as Johan, and Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl as her friend Jasmin. Lindahl is notably the youngest actor to ever win the best lead performance award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2021 for her role in “As in Heaven.”
Director Mogens Hagedorn shared his personal connection to the film: “’Pretty Young Love’ is more than a story of forbidden love; it is an homage to the potent force of our inner voice, urging us to listen and act courageously. Having followed my own advice in creating this film, I am both proud and humbled by its selection for the Tallinn festival and its resonance with audiences globally,” he explained.
“Pretty Young Love” is one of nine feature films chosen for the Youth Film category at the Just Film festival, which will take place from November 7-23 in Tallinn, Estonia.
