Serbian Director Stefan Đorđević’s “Wind, Talk to Me” Clinches Top Honor at Sarajevo Film Festival
The 31st Sarajevo Film Festival saw Serbian director Stefan Đorđević’s film “Wind, Talk to Me” receiving the prestigious Heart of Sarajevo award for Best Feature Film. This film, deeply rooted in Đorđević’s personal life, features his own family members and delves into the complex dynamics of a mother-son relationship.
The storyline revolves around the character Stefan, who returns home to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday, marking his first family reunion since the death of his mother. His homecoming is intertwined with his intentions to finalize a film about his mother and his efforts to mend past conflicts through the adoption of a stray dog, setting him on a path of self-discovery.
The festival’s jury praised Đorđević for his innovative blend of documentary and fictional storytelling, creating a film that captivates with its subtle melancholy and exquisite beauty.
Awards Across Various Categories
The accolade for Best Director was awarded to Ivana Mladenović for her film “Sorella Di Clausura.” This narrative follows a Romanian countryside woman who falls for a Balkan musician seen on TV. The film is described by the jury as a skillfully directed piece that mixes dark humor and tragedy, resembling a Dostoevsky novel, ultimately crafting a unique take on romantic comedies without the romance.
The award for Best Actress was presented to Sarah al Saleh, Alina Juhart, Mia Skrbinac, and Mina Milovanović for their roles in “Fantasy.” The film portrays three young women from Slovenia challenging societal norms, whose lives are transformed after meeting Fantasy, a transgender woman. The jury commended the actresses for their authentic and charismatic performances.
Andrija Kuzmanović won Best Actor for his role in “Yugo Florida,” a film about a man named Zoran who faces the challenges of reconnecting with his dying, estranged father. The jury recognized Kuzmanović for his nuanced portrayal of a man grappling with emotional detachment.
